Honeystreet on the K&A
After Pewsey again another 4 miles without locks is Honey Street it will only take about an hour from Pewsey! Approaching from Wilcot with the Gold Swan for a stop, you will proceed past  Wide Water  and Picked Hill to mooring on the run into to Honey Street and The Barge Inn.

Visible from Honeystreet on the north side of the canal is the Alton Barnes white horse which was cut in 1812. The area is knwon for the crop circles that appear there and the origin of these continues to be debated. The Barge Inn is a notable feature and not the same one as located at Seend. Honeystreet historically an important stabling point for boat horses, bakery, brewery and a slaughterhouse all in one.

More about Honeystreet in Wiltshire

The hills close in around the canal in particular around Woodborough and Picked Hill heavily wooded and less than a mile from the canal side.Around Wilcot notice both Wide Water and Ladies Bridge which are pinpointed on our maps. These features were the result of the demands of Lady Susannah Wroughton , the original landowner who wanted disguised features as the canal cut through her land. John Rennie the engineer obliged and we can enjoy these features still today. The Barge Inn also hosts live music at times during the year so worth a stop for many reasons. There is also a nearby country store offering the chance for extra supplies.

After Honeystreet you proceed past Stanton St Bernard and head onwards to All Cannings towards Allington and Horton.
