Newbury is our alternative starting point and boat base, from here you can strike out another 4 miles and 6 locks all in all about 3 hours west towards Kintbury Newbury, on the A4 and River Kennet a town that prospered around the cloth trade that prospered around the canal trade and later grain from te Berskhire farmland. The K&A Trust building ‘Stone Building’ is one of the few originals remaining. Its a modern market town through which the K&A and Kennet carve their way through the heart of town life. Plenty of pubs and restaurants, things to do and see and shopping is very good for its size too. Its a great starting point if you want to further down the K&A and we will moor our boats for the start of your tri at our Newbury base no problem!
